Mercier Promoted to Director Engineering
Greg Mercier has been promoted to Director Engineering. He will be responsible for leadership of all design and administrative engineering functions in Abingdon, Va. and Gastonia, N.C. He will also assume responsibility for the quality function in Abingdon.Joe Bowman will continue to lead all research and development functions for Hapco in his position of Director Research and Development.
Mercier has a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich., and an Associate's degree in Mechanical Design from Michigan Technological University in Houghton.
Joining Hapco in March 2004, Mercier served as Business Development Manager and was promoted to Director Design Engineering in 2008. He is a member of the ANSI C136 committee for Roadway and Area Lighting Equipment.
His prior positions include Metallurgical Research Engineer for Wall Colmonoy Products, and Research and Development Manager for Sandvik Mineral Tools.
Since joining Hapco, Mercier has played a key role in new product development and design. He has led several projects to develop new markets and customers. His ability to interact both at a technical level and a sales level has been instrumental in Hapco's growth throughout the past several years.
